A Bit of the 60's Brought Back in Style!

Remember the "Hippies", the "Flower Children", the "Peace" symbol, painted hippie-vans, words like: love, peace, far-out, dig-it, freak and psychedelic? When top of the chart songs were "These Eyes", Suspicious Minds", "Aquarius", "Sugar Sugar", "Sweet Caroline", "Hair", "Crimson and Clover" and "Bad Moon Rising" to name a few. And of course, Woodstock, the outdoor concert held in New York on August 15, 16 and 17, 1969 where over 500,000 people showed up to hear groups like: Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joan Baez, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and the list goes on.

Yes, I'm talking about the hippie era....some of you may have lived it, some only heard about it or read about it. It was a time when the younger generation started to reclaim their lives. They wanted to be themselves. They campained for world peace, protesting the draft and Vietnam War. They voiced their opposition with the words "Make Love Not War". They burnt their draft cards while shouting "Hell no, we won't go". They experimented with soft drugs and promoted "free love".
